The University of Bucharest was established in 1864. The structure of its educational programs was entirely changed to match the Bologna programme requirements. The diplomas granted by this University are recognized almost everywhere in the world. The Times Higher Education Supplement ranked this University for three years among the first 600 universities in the world.

Bucharest offers 38 fields of specialization. The master's degree offer includes 180 programmes. Doctoral schools are funded with European funds in 3-year projects.
