Gunpowder Tower - Sibiu

The Gunpowder Tower is a point of interest in the city of Sibiu, Romania. The tower is located at the end of Zidului Street, in the Lower Town. As the name shows, the tower was used to store gunpowder. It is a massive circular tower that was built to ensure it withstands the fire of artillery in the event of a siege. The tower was part of the fortified complex of the town, defending the Ocna Gate.
