The Brasov Council Square (Piata Sfatului in Romanian) is probably the best known and most visited site in
Brasov. Many cultural and artistic open air events are organized here.
The most important building in the square is the Council House, built in 1420 and located in the middle of the square.
Nearby touristic sites are the Old Town, including the
Black Church and main square or Council Square (Piata Sfatului) which features medieval buildings in different architectural styles. Around the main square you can find the picturesque pedestrian-only Republicii street, the Black Church, the former Council House, indoor and outdoor terraces and restaurants, the
White Tower, the
Black Tower, and the
String Street.
