The Lower Town is a point of interest located in the city of
Sibiu, Romania.
It is the most ancient part of the city and it was inhabited mainly by craftsmen. Therefore, many streets in the area carry the names of crafts. In the Lower Town we find the oldest square of
Sibiu, the Dragoner Square which was established in the 13th century at the crossing of two commercial roads. This part of the city was fortified starting from the 15th century, and the fortification was then consolidated with bastions and towers in the 16th century.
