Bran Castle

General Information

According to Forbes Magazine, Bran Castle ranks second on the list of the most expensive properties in the world, with an estimated value of 140 million dollars. It was built in 1212 and it was first documented in an act issued by Louis I of Hungary on November 19, 1377.


You'll find it 30 km from Brasov, and between Bucegi and Piatra Craiului Mountains. Each year thousands of tourists come to Romania drawn by the spooky atmosphere created by the legend of Dracula. There is a special room and staircase in the castle recreating the vampire's environment, and this is most exciting to try during Halloween, when Bran Castle is the preferred destination of American and British tourists.


In the courtyard of Bran Castle there is a museum illustrating traditions of the Bran-Moeciu area. Also, if you wish to stay overnight, you'll find plenty of accommodation offers as Bran-Moeciu area has many Bed-and-Breakfast facilities serving traditional Romanian dishes.
