Hirscher House is a point of interest in Brasov.
It was renovated in 1960 after being repeatedly damaged by fire. Also called the Merchants' House, it was built by order of Apollonia Hirscher, widow of Brasov's judge, for the amount of 8,000 guileders. It was intended to function as a commercial center for Brasov merchants. According to an ancient tale, Apollonia Hirscher had a daughter who died young. The girl was buried with a lot of jewellery, which drew the attention of thieves who unburied her after the funeral. To their surprise, the girl was not quite dead as they'd expected...shock brought her back to life, and later her mother had this House built to recall this peculiar event. Corona Galleries are opened now in this building. CategoriesHistory, Shopping, Arts and Culture |
