Located in Lipscani area, Caru cu Bere is a must when you start your journey to discover Bucharest.

The beerhouse was opened in 1879 in the former tavern Zlatari. Then it moved on Stavropoles Street and has remained there ever since. It was a meeting place for Romanian writers that remain forever in the minds and hearts of Romanians: George Cosbuc, Octavian Goga, I.L.Caragiale.

Caru cu Bere is a very sought-after place for going out as its interior features beautifully painted walls, stained glass and sculpted hand rails.

The restaurant offers great food and drinks served with the level of customer care you expect in areas with high concentration of tourists. And, why not, it's well known for the beer manufactured following their own secret recipe. One more thing: they also have a cellar exhibiting various items from everywhere, all in the 'beer culture' category.
When you get there, be sure to look up...up to the handrail on your right. You'll see the silhouette of Mos Ghita pivnicerul, who worked here for a few decades.
