The Black Chuch of
Brasov is a monumental building in the Gothic architectural style. It was called the Church of Saint Mary until 1689 when a fire damaged a part of it. Ever since, given that walls were blackened by the fire smoke, the church has been named the Black Church.
The church has the biggest bell in
Romania – it's a bronze bell that weighs 6 tonnes. Inside the church you'll find exhibited more than 100 precious Oriental carpets. The church has an organ with 4,000 tubes, installed in 1839.
