Curently Hilton Hotel, it is located just across the Royal Palace, in Revolution Square, Bucharest.
Athenee Palace was built in 1912 according to the plans of architect Teophile Bradeau. It was the first construction of its size and built with a reinforced concrete skeleton-frame. The building's interior and exterior were changed in 1930 based on plans of architect Duiliu Marcu. The hotel's exterior gained a more attractive look with the three arcades built on the height of three storeys. After the 1944 bombings the hotel was renovated following the plans of the same architect. A new wing was added to the hotel alongside Calea Victoriei between 1964-1966. The hotel was renovated before 2005 for the amount of 42 million dollars. CategoriesHistory, Entertainment, Monuments, Eating, Shopping |
