Bacau

Bacau is the largest city in Bacau County, Romania and the county capital. It lies in north-eastern Romania, in the center-western part of Moldova. The city of Bacau has a surface of 60 square kms. and its population totals 175,500 inhabitants.


Bacau is an important transportation center, as it is crossed by European roads E85 and E57, European and national highways connecting it to Bucharest, the northern part of the country and Transylvania. Bacau is an international airport ensuring regular flights to cities in the country and abroad.


According to the latest communication released by the National Institute of Statistics, Bacau had 177,087 inhabitants on January 1st, 2009.
